The music, likewise, goes for a high gloss take on romance, recalling the heavily echoed beats and dense synthesizers of a Phil Collins ballad from the ’80s.”

The following week, the song jumped to number thirty-six, before climbing to number twenty in its third week, becoming Goulding’s third solo top twenty hit on the chart. On the Canadian Hot 100, the single debuted at number thirty-eight for the week ending 24 January 2015, peaking two weeks later at number twenty-three.

    In Oceania, “Love Me Like You Do” debuted at number eight on Australia Singles Chart and number three on New Zealand Singles Chart.

    In Europe, “Love Me Like You Do” peaked at number one in Sweden, and charted within the top ten in Belgium, Denmark, Finland and Norway.

Music video

    The music video for “Love Me Like You Do” was directed by Georgia Hudson and premiered on 22 January 2015. The video stars Goulding and her on-screen boyfriend. The video also includes footage from the film, as depiction of the relationship. The video begins with Goulding entering a house then begins singing. It switches to a car and a garage. She climbs the stairs, and she enters a room where a man stands. She walks in the room, whilst various scenes are shown of her and the man dancing. Goulding sings in the garage. She is then seen singing on the floor, lying down.
