International Love was first released as a promotional single on May 29, 2011. Later, the song was released as the fourth official single from the album on November 1, 2011.
The song was written by Pitbull, Soulshock, Peter Biker, Sean Hurley and Claude Kelly, and it was produced by Soulshock, Biker and Hurley. American R&B recording artist Chris Brown provides guest vocals on the hook and bridge. It is a dance-pop song, following the strong world dance music feel of the album.
Lyrically, it finds the rapper spitting verses in praise of girls worldwide, ranging from Brazil where the ladies are freaky big oh booty to Greece where, the women are sweet. In one verse, Pitbull sings: I dont play football, but Ive touched down everywhere, I dont play baseball, but Ive hit a home run everywhere, Ive been to countries and cities I cant pronounce, and to places on the globe I aint know existed. After that come saucy remarks about the women of Romania, Lebanon and Greece. He mentions at least nine places. During the middle eight breakdown, Brown croons: Theres not a place that your love dont affect me, baby / So dont ever change, across the globe when Im with you, baby.
On December 8, 2011, a teaser of the video was released. The preview showed the singers decked out in black suits and ties, working their best moves in front of a green screen. The full music video was released on December 9, 2011. The video shows the duo traveling the world by CGI and green screen effects. The various cityscapes are projected behind the sharply dressed guys as they rap and sing about living it up and loving the many ladies around the world. Erin Strecker of Entertainment Weeklys Music Mix, described the video, writing: The extra-planetary party is a greenscreen orgy in the sky, complete with women, dance moves, and some oddly placed all-American body paint (at 3:20).
Pitbull will go to Kodiak, Alaska because of a web prank.
Walmart and Listerine sponsored a contest between Walmart locations, with the location generating the most Facebook likes getting a visit from the rapper.
David Thorpe and Jon Hedren, writers for the humor website Something Awful, urged Twitter fans to vote for the Kodiak Walmart, the most remote location in the chain. Kodiak, Alaska, has more than 6,000 inhabitants.
When the contest ended on July 16, 2012, the Kodiak location won with more than 71,000 Facebook likes.
Pitbull said in a YouTube video, I heard that Kodiak, Alaska, has the most likes due to someone that thinks he was playing a prank. You gotta understand, I will go anywhere in the world for my fans. I want to invite that someone who thinks its a joke to Kodiak, Alaska, with me.
David Thorpe replied on Twitter, Ill definitely go to Alaska with @Pitbull.
