biography

Treniti, the Louisiana-Virginia-DC-bred-southern-belle of Power-Girl-Funk-Hip-Hop R&B, started out singing in a community gospel group in VA with her homie Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott. “Back in the day, Missy and I used to hang out. Her mom was like -my mom. We cut a couple of things together in the studio. Back then it was a big deal to record in an 8 track reel-to-reel studio. We didn’t have no money so you got in where you fit in — this was before Timbaland -before Sista (now defunct). She used to bring producers to my house to eat my food and to hear me sing. —On the real, she sparked it for me. We kept in touch for a while, but as time goes on people grow apart.”

One of the first songs Treniti ever wrote received favorable response in the Nation’s capital when it was featured on Prince Da Jour’s Cool Out and Tigger’s (now of BET’s Rap City) Home Jamz segment on WPGC FM. “Tigger gave me much love — He played my song (on the DL) all the time knowing it was against the rules. WPFW and WHUR —Howard University’s radio station, played it too — there it actually got requested”, she giggles. Treniti’s not new to the game. She’s been on tour and appeared on shows with MC Hammer and Karen Clark-Sheard (of the Clark Sisters — Faith Evans’ inspiration) as backup to gospel recording artist, William Becton. She appears on a salacious duet on LaMorris Williams’ (of the internationally acclaimed Williams Brothers family) “Issues” album and has written/co-written on various other projects. She’s hob-knobbed and worked with big-wig producers in the camps of Keith Sweat, TLC, Joe Joe & KC.

Treniti’s life has been, shall we say, kind of busy since she hooked up with her Walk ‘n’ Tall Entertainment family and began her latest project. “They are my family”.

With infectious songs like “When He Gets Home” to the ill-behaved “All That You Need”, and the very declarative “Too Late”, Treniti demands your attention and the promise of a Billboard Chart 1 spot!
