biography

Pianist, singer, & songwriter Bob Malone is a distinctive mix of blues, funk, New Orleans soul and solid pop sensibilities in the style of great piano-men like Dr. John, Billy Joel, Professor Longhair and Randy Newman all rolled into one. Backyard Blues Magazine describes him as “a raconteur of the human condition.”

Bob’s 4th CD release, the much anticipated live solo recording, MALONE ALONE, will be out in March 2003, distributed in the US by Burnside Distribution. Recorded in five different venues from New York to California during his 2002 “Like It Or Not” tour, the CD is a high-energy showcase of Bob’s live talents.

Bob Malone, who is also highlighted with recording artists Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, Keith Richards, and Harry Connick Jr. among others with a featured essay in the recently released HarperCollins book Working Musicians by Bruce Pollock, has been hailed “a real indie success story” for his three previous critically acclaimed CDs (including last year’s Like It Or Not) and for establishing an impressive national audience base from his live concerts, touring, NPR, radio, and record sales.

Bob Malone has toured extensively, performing both as a headliner and as an opener for bands like The Neville Brothers, Rev. Al Green, Boz Scaggs, Average White Band, Manhattan Transfer, and Vonda Shepard to name a few. He was recently featured as a “One To Watch” artist on NPR’s Acoustic Cafe, as well as being on Performing Songwriter’s “Best of DIY” compilation CD. His music has been featured on TV shows Jag, Cupid, and the Young & the Restless and his song “Goodbye L.A.” was the end-credit tune in the feature film Hollywood Palms.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Bob Malone currently resides in Los Angeles where he lives with his fiancee Karen Nash, and their two cats Bacchus and Zulu.
