English text book
This is a project to create a free downloadable college textbook as an alternative or optional text in freshman English Composition classes.
Professors and schools are encouraged to modify this text for their particular classes, as well as use portions of this text for class handouts. Exact details in copyright section.
Those who have volunteered to review and comment on the work in progress should use the updates as a guide to what portions of the text have been written or modified.
Chapter 0 — Intro: introductory material, such as copyright information.
Chapter 1 — Remedial: The basics of English, material that should have been learned in high school.
Chpater 2 — Basics: The basics of writing, applicable to all kinds of writing.
Chapter 3 — Grammar Reference: A grammar reference. This chapter repeats much of the information from chapters one and two, but presetns it for easy reference, while the first two chapters present the information for ease of learning.
Chapter 4 — Academic Writing: A guide to acadmeic writing.
Chapter 5 — Style Guide: A style guide for academic writing.
